Welcome Home!

And we're off...  It is indeed a pleasure to be here.  I do enjoy the fascinating life of our leading man, Mr. Tyler Perry.  Like Will Smith said in a biography done on him not long ago, when you hear people addressing you as Mr. Smith instead of just plain 'ole Will, you know you have arrived.

And it is time we give this talented young man the accolades he has earned and so rightfully deserve.  I am proud of his strong committment to not just excel, but take others along with him to higher heights.  We have so much and yet sometimes we hold back sharing what the good Lord gave us with our neighbours.  And Mr. Perry has demonstrated that so aptly with his full accompaniment of 300+ staff members and the numerous persons he has assisted over his short time in the industry.

Mr. Perry we tip our hats off to you, we raise our glasses in your honor, we nod an acknowledgment of thanks, admiration and respect and we bow in full curtsey in the cutest way to honor your past, admonish your present and preserve your future.  To Mr. Tyler Perry... Hooray!  Hooray!  Hooray!

Tyler Perry Sued Over Praising Jesus
Posted Nov 26th 2009 8:43AM by TMZ Staff

Tyler Perry used too much of the goodness of Jesus in his movie, "Madea Goes to Jail," at least according to a new federal lawsuit obtained by TMZ.

The suit, filed by the personal representative of deceased gospel singer/songwriter Bertha James, claims Perry lifted an entire verse from a song James wrote in 1950 -- "When I Think of the Goodness of Jesus."

The suit claims Perry pilfered the verse and used it in "Madea" -- specifically, "incorporating the entire Chorus in a monologue delivered by the main character in 'Madea" referencing her deliverance from a jail sentence and leniency for repetitive criminal conduct, in a staged court proceeding presided over by 'Judge Mabeline.'"

Bertha's estate, which is also suing Lionsgate Entertainment, wants unspecified damages for copyright infringement.

Madea's Big Happy Family-New Play!

Big Announcement!

I wanted to tell you this before the tickets went on sale in most places....Madea is officially going on tour! That's right, a Madea play, live on tour! I have managed to carve out about a year to go on the road and see you all again.

I gotta tell you, I have missed you. There is nothing like a live performance and if you've never seen a Madea play, then you haven't seen Madea at all. It is an experience, just ask someone who's seen it ...SMILE

It's been 5 years since I've been on the road and the timing just happened to fall right into place. I needed to get away from Hollywood for a second...clear my head. There is no better way to do that than to come out and see your faces and be reminded of where this all started.

The show is called MADEA'S BIG HAPPY FAMILY. I'm going to come through as many cities as I can. I know I can't get to all of them but I'll try and get as close as I can. Get your tickets early!                  Thank you for all your prayers.

                      THANK YOU!

Dec 26th , 2009

A few months ago, I said I was taking off the rest of 2009. The reason for that, although I didn't say it at the time, was so I could spend my mother's final days at her side. I am so glad I did. It made all the difference in the world to me. Thank you for all of your condolences. As you know, my mother was the apple of my eye, so this has been difficult to say the least. I'll say more about her as I am able. It's just to soon to talk publicly about it. It is still very raw. All I'll say is this, take care of your mothers…you only get one. I've got to stop talking about this, sorry.

You have no idea how much I need to go to work right now, for no other reason than to just to be busy. January 4th can't get here soon enough. If you think I've been working at a crazy pace before, you ain't seen nothing yet!…SMILE. I'm telling you, if I walk these dogs one more time, I think they're going to cuss me out!….LOL. Y'all know I can't sit still.

Anyway, I am so glad I have decided to go out on tour. You can't image how much I need to be in front of the people right now. To get that give-and-take, I am so looking forward to it. Can you believe it's been 5 years since I've toured? So I'm coming to make you hurt yourself in a good way…LOL. MADEA's BIG HAPPY FAMILY is my new play. Trust me when I tell you, I need to laugh and make you laugh even harder. All I want to say is that if you have not seen "MADEA" live on stage you haven't seen Madea at all. In the movies, I'm limited but on stage….FREEEEDDOMMMM!!! LOL.

This is truly my BIGGEST and BEST PLAY EVER! I've done some things in this show that have never been seen in a play before. The show is hilarious! I mean, it's so funny that we can't get through rehearsals. We're trying to get it all out now. And the music! The music is off the chain. So come on out, I'd love to see you there. It's bigger and better than anything I've ever done. I'm excited about it, I really am. Can you tell?

Here are the tour dates for the first leg.

Jan 4th, 2010…El Paso, TX….Don Haskins Center
Jan 5th, 2010….Phoenix, AZ….Dodge Theatre
Jan 6th, 2010….San Diego, CA….San Diego Sports Arena

Click HERE to view all scheduled dates. Oh yeah, if you don't see your city, just remember this is only the first leg…more cities will be added.

God Bless and thank you again.

I almost forgot. On Christmas Eve, I misdialed a number and started talking to a lady who I didn't know. Her name is Irene Toliver. She didn't believe it was me so here's your proof …SMILE. You and your husband seem like very nice people. I hope you got your cooking finished in time. Didn't mean to take up your time, but you reminded me of my mother. God bless you.

Tyler Perry in Hot Water Over Copyright Infringement

Friday, 05 February 2010 01:22

Apparently, megawatt film producer Tyler Perry forgot to cross a T in his business affairs. He's now facing a lawsuit after being accused of using parts of a gospel song on the sitcom "Meet the Browns" without compensating its copyright holder. Looks like it's time to pay the piper.

In a 2009 episode of "Browns," a group sang the lyrics, "The Devil thought he had me ... but I got away," but the writer wasn't asked for permission. That works in the church, which is Perry's background, because many of the songs are in the public domain, but in film and TV ... that's a no-no. Perhaps it was one of those off-script moments, that Perry typically appreciates, but there are no excuses when it comes to copyright infringement.

According to the lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court in Los Angeles, songwriter Johnny Tyrone Stringfield claims the lyrics came from his song, "I Got Away," a song he copyrighted back in 2008.

Stringfield is asking for more than $100,000 in damages from Perry and the company behind the production. A mere drop in Perry's bucket, but it's the principle ... –gerald radford
